Head Coach Brandon Brooks takes his undefeated, third-ranked UCLA women’s water polo team to the UCSB Winter Invitational this weekend for four games and a shot at another tournament title.
The Bruins emerged unbeaten after winning four games last weekend in the UCLA Invitational: 25-6 vs. Concordia; 15-4 vs. Cal Baptist; 14-3 vs. CS Bakersfield and 15-6 vs. No. 16 Loyola Marymount.
Leading scorers for the Bruins were junior attacker Emily Donohoe and freshman utility Mackenzie Barr, who netted a total of eight goals on the weekend. Barr scored a career-best four goals in her first collegiate game against Concordia. She also added three steals and five assists.
Three Bruins will be returning to their hometown of Santa Barbara this weekend: fourth year junior All-America goalkeeper Sami Hill, sophomore attacker Kodi Hill and freshman attacker Kelsey O’Brien. Sami Hill recorded 25 saves in just 11 quarters played last weekend (4.00 goals against average). Kodi Hill scored six goals, and recorded a team-best 10 assists and seven steals. O’Brien scored two goals in two attempts, and added an assist and two steals.
