The Bruins (22-3, 4-1) and Trojans (22-1, 4-1) will be battling for the coveted second seed in the MPSF Tournament, Apr. 23-25 at USC. Top-ranked Stanford (19-1, 5-0) has clinched the tournament’s No. 1 seed after victories over both teams.
USC defeated UCLA 7-6 in overtime in the finals of the UC Irvine Tournament on Feb. 23. In that game, the Bruins’ Emily Donohoe scored twice and Alys Williams, Kodi Hill, Mackenzie Barr and Kelly Ronimus each scored once. Goalkeeper Sami Hill recorded a career-high of 17 saves.
In the all-time series, UCLA owns a 44-22 advantage over USC in women’s water polo. USC has won three straight, including two games last season. The last UCLA victory was a 4-3 triumph in the finals of the 2012 MPSF Tournament on Apr. 28 at Stanford. The last time the Bruins won at USC’s home pool was on March 3, 2012 in a 6-5 decision.
