VOLOS, Greece -- The USA Women's Junior National Team opened play at the 2013 FINA Women's Junior World Championships with a 14-4 defeat of Kazakhstan. Kiley Neushul and Ashley Grossman each scored three goals while Ashleigh Johnson and Jillian Yocum split time in the cage to pick up the victory.

Five Bruins are on the team including incoming freshman Mackenzie Barr, sophomores Kodi Hill, Rachel Fattal and Alys Williams and junior Emily Donohoe.

Team USA is back in action tomorrow when they take on Italy at 1:00 a.m. (PT). For a complete tournament schedule click here.

Team USA was in control of this game from the start, opening up a 6-0 lead after the first period. Neushul scored twice in that opening quarter and was joined by goals from Grossman, Tiera Schroeder, Eike Daube and Donohoe.

The offense slowed a bit in the second period, but the United States led 8-1 at halftime with goals from Daube and Fattal.

Grossman and Monica Vavic opened the third period with goals to build a 10-1 lead but Kazakhstan fought back with two goals of their own. Team USA would have the last word on a goal from Neushul and an 11-3 lead headed to the fourth.

In the final period, the U.S. finished things off with another tally from Grossman and two goals from Makenzie Fischer to come away winners at 14-4.
