LOS ANGELES, CA -- Junior Sami Hill and sophomore Rachel Fattal led a contingent of five UCLA women’s water polo players who were named All-Americans, the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced Monday.

Hill and Fattal, who helped the United States win the gold medal June 15 at the FINA World League Super Final, were named to the first-team, while junior Emily Donohoe, the Bruins’ leading scorer, was a second-team choice. Senior Becca Dorst and sophomore Alys Williams, also a participant at the World League Super Final, received honorable mention honors.

Hill, who earned 2014 MPSF Player of the Year honors, started every match in goal for the U.S. team in China last week, and made seven saves in a 10-8 gold medal victory on Sunday against Italy. During the collegiate season, she recorded a goals against average of 5.08, a saves average of 10.1 and made 280 saves. In 2013, she was a second-team All-America selection.

Fattal, who scored eight goals last week in China, finished the 2014 season as the Bruins’ leading scorer with 46 goals. She led the team with 49 steals and 19 field blocks, and added 44 assists. As a freshman last season, she also earned first-team All-America honors.

Donohoe led the Bruins with 55 goals, and added 33 steals, 22 assists and nine field blocks. Last season, she was a third-team All-American.

Williams, considered one of the top defensive players in the country, played significant minutes in China and scored six goals, including a team-best four against Canada. As a sophomore, she started all 32 games, scored 35 goals, and recorded 40 steals, 26 assists and five field blocks. This was her second All-America honorable mention award.

Dorst, a 2012 honorable mention All-American, was the Bruins’ third-leading scorer in 2014 with 36 goals. She added 33 steals, 12 field blocks and six assists.

In five years under the guidance of Head Coach Brandon Brooks, 14 UCLA players have earned 21 All-America certificates.
