LOS ANGELES - The No. 4 UCLA women's water polo team (16-3, 0-1) hosts No. 5 California (12-3, 0-1) in an MPSF game on Saturday at 1 p.m. and No. 7 San Diego State (10-6) in a non-conference game on Sunday at Noon at Spieker Aquatics Center.
BRUINS AMONG MPSF SCORING LEADERS
Sophomore attacker Alexa Tielmann is third on the team in scoring with 17 goals while Freshman defender Gisselle Naranjo are tied for fourth on the squad with 16 goals (0.9 goals per game).
IN THE CAGE
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper, Sami Hill, is off to a great start in 2013 and is currently second in the MPSF in saves per game at 11.29. She is also third in the MPSF in goals against, giving up 5.71 per game. Hill also is tied for first on the team with 21 assists and is third on the squad with 14 steals.
True freshman Rachel Fattal leads the Bruins in steals (24), sprints won (24) and field blocks (11) and is second in scoring (35 goals) and third in assists (18).
HILL ON THE ASSIST
Freshman attacker Kodi Hill is tied for the team lead in assists with 21 on the year. Hill also has seven goals, 10 steals and is second on the squad with five field blocks on the year.
BROOKS ON DECK FOR YEAR FOUR
Brandon Brooks is in his fourth season as UCLA's head women's water polo coach in 2013. He was named the third head coach in program history on June 3, 2009, and has compiled a 87-22 (.798) record.
RECAPPING LAST WEEK
The Bruins were edged by Arizona State in their MPSF opener last weekend. UCLA had a 4-1 lead in the first half, but watched the Sun Devils turn it into a 7-5 advantage. The Bruins cut the deficit to 7-6 with two minutes left but couldn't net the equalizer.
