The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Monday that UCLA sophomore Lane Werley was one of 80 student-athletes that received All-America honors for the 2012 NCAA Division I Cross Country season.
Overall finish at the NCAA Championships is the determining factor as the top 40 individuals from both men's and women's races earn All-America plaudits from the USTFCCCA. Finishing in 25th place overall, Werley ran an impressive race with a time of 29:49.5 at the NCAA Championship to cap off a remarkable 2012 season.
In the conference race, the Pac-12 and Big 12 each had six male honorees, followed by the ACC (5) and Big Ten (4). The Bruins were the second highest finishing Pac-12 school, behind only Colorado in third.
In the team's ninth appearance in an NCAA Championship, UCLA finished in 13th place overall and registered their highest finish at the championships since 1985 (12th).
