What are you looking forward to most about being a member of the team?
Continuing where we left off at Nationals with a better team finish.
Why did you choose UCLA?
A great educational opportunity as well as athletics that are second to no one.
How did your family react to your college decision?
They were excited and allowed me to make my own decision.
When did you begin competing and why?
I ran for fun when I was young and got serious in high school. I started just because I found it fun.
When did you realize you could compete at the Division 1 level?
My junior year in high school. I began to run some really good times. I had always dreamed of running at the collegiate level.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
My 2nd year when I set the indoor 5k record as well as breaking the freshman 5k record. The time also helped me to qualify for indoor nationals that year.
What has been the biggest adjustment you've had to make as a college athlete?
It’s really learning to balance everything out time wise between school and training.
What goals do you have for this season?
Top 5 team finish at Nationals. Top 25 All-American.
Have you decided on or what is your major and why?
Geography, because I find it interesting. Especially animal geography as well as urban geography.
What are your plans after college?
I plan to join the Navy and try for special operations.
Is there any other athlete, either professional or collegiate, that inspires you?
There are a lot. Many of them the underdog, gritty-athlete types.
Aside from track, what is your favorite sport?
Athletes have strict diet regimens, but if there is one food you cannot live without, what is it?

Lots of rap, rock and country.
