Played in all 33 matches and all 135 sets in her first year ever as a libero as the Gauchos finished the year at 16-17 ... named AVCA All-America Honorable Mention ... was named First Team All-Big West and the Big West Freshman of the Year after leading the nation in digs (792) ... averaged 5.87 digs per set, which ranked first in the Big West and in the region and ranked 8th nationally ... her 792 digs set a new UCSB and Big West Conference single-season record, smashing the previous record of 652 set by Chelsey Lowe (UCSB, 2011) ... Formico, who also earned Big West All-Freshman Team honors, became the first player in UCSB history to be named the West Region Freshman of the Year by the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) ... she also picked up AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention plaudits ... her 41 digs against Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 19 were the most by a Gaucho in the rally-scoring era, the most ever in a conference match, and tied for the most in program history for any match ... she also recorded 30 or more digs in a match 12 times on the year, which accounted for over half of the 30+ dig performances in the Big West and almost twice as many as any other player in the nation ... she also ranked 4th in the Big West in aces per game (0.27/g) in conference play.

Formico played three-and-a-half years on the Lancers' varsity volleyball team after being promoted from her freshman team at St. Francis High School in Mountain View, Calif. ... was a three-year starter at setter for head coach Leahi Hall ... named All-West Catholic First Team as a sophomore, junior and senior (2009-11) ... also named West Catholic MVP in 2010 and SFHS Female Athlete-of-the-Year in 2011 ... she also won California Division II Player of the Year and CIF MVP honors after guiding SFHS to a record ninth CIF State title in 2010 (junior year), defeating Troy in the finals (22-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-17) ... played club with City Beach and helped them to a Junior Olympic bronze medal as a setter in 2009 and placed fifth in 2010.
