HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. - The sixth-ranked Bruins put an end to a six-match losing streak by ending the regular season and Beach Collegiate Challenge pool play with a 3-2 win over Santa Clara on Saturday afternoon at Hermosa Beach, Calif. UCLA improved to 7-8 on the year while Santa Clara dropped to 6-7.
At #4 doubles, Karly Drolson and Rachel Inouye posted a three-set victory (21-12, 19-21, 15-9) over the Bronco's team of Madison Dutra and Sarah Vaccaro. The Bruin pair improved to a team-best 12-6 overall record.
At #5 doubles, Julie Consani and Jennie Frager posted a straight set victory (21-12, 21-18) over the Broncos' tandem of Lacey Maas and Katy Schatzman. It was Frager and Consani's first match as a duo.
Sunday’s competition (April 13) will be a pairs tournament played on courts 1-8 starting at 9 a.m. (PT) and is scheduled to conclude at 3:15 p.m.
