Juniors Spencer Rowe (3.8 gpa) and Evan Mottram (3.3 gpa) were recognized on Thursday by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for their academic achievements and named MPSF Men's Volleyball Scholar-Athletes for the 2013 season.
Rowe ranked among the nation's best in hitting percentage (.459) this season for the fourth-ranked Bruins. The middle blocker set new career bests almost across the board -- kills (16),digs (4), total blocks (7), aces (2) and total points (20). He was also selected to the second-team AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) All-America team earlier this off season. In addition, Rowe was chosen to the 2013 UCLA All-Scholar Team. He is an eight-time member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll at UCLA, earning a 4.0 gpa in three of those quarters.
Mottram, who ranked among the nation's leaders in digs (2.10 avg.) from his libero position, saw action in all 32 matches this season. He recorded a 96% serve reception percentage and was named a second-team AVCA All-America.
