Men's Volleyball senior Spencer Rowe was named on Thursday to the Capital One Academic All-District 8 NCAA Division I Men's At-Large team. His name will now be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America At-Large team honors. Voting will begin next week and the All-America team will be released during the first week in June.
Rowe, who owns a 3.84 gpa in the Political Science major, was named an honorable mention AVCA All-America after the 2014 season. He was also chosen to the second-team All-MPSF squad. Rowe established career-bests this year in kills (24), points scored (27.0), total blocks (7.0) and digs (9). He hit higher than .350 in 17 matches and served as a team captain.
Rowe paced the Bruins with 90 total blocks this past season, while ranking 38th in the nation with his 0.92 blocks per set average. He rated 19th in the NCAA in hitting percentage with a .375 mark. The Mission Viejo High School product led the squad with a .410 hitting percentage in MPSF matches.
Last year, Rowe earned All-District Academic accolades and then was selected to the third-team Academic All-America At-Large squad, becoming the first UCLA volleyball player in 13 years to merit the honor. He has appeared on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each year of attendance at UCLA, achieving several 4.0 quarters.
