Bruins Sweep Matadors

Top-ranked UCLA defeated Cal State Northridge Wednesday in a key MPSF road match.

The Bruins (15-3, 10-2) won 30-25, 30-28, 30-23 in 91 minutes before 727 fans at the Matadome.

Junior Cameron Mount led the Bruins with 14 kills and senior Matt Komer added 13. Sophomore Chris Pena recorded five total blocks and junior Rich Nelson added three, including two solos.

Senior Ekhard Walter led the Matadors (9-7, 5-6) with 22 kills.

The Bruins dominated the net, out-blocking their opponent 14.5-8.0 and limiting CS Nortridge to a hitting percentage of .184. UCLA also held five Northrdige hitters to negative hitting percentages.

The Bruins' next match will be Fri., Mar. 1 at UC Santa Barbara beginning at 7 p.m.
