Three Bruins Earn All-America Recognition From Athlon

Athlon Sports' pre-season magazines hit retail locations June 1 with the UCLA Pac-10 regional edition cover featuring safety Rahim Moore.

Three UCLA standouts were named pre-season All-Americans, with Moore and kicker Kai Forbath on the first team and linebacker Akeem Ayers making the second team.

Seven Bruins earned preseason All-Pac-10 honors, including Ayers, Moore and Forbath on the first team. Punter Jeff Locke was named to the second team, while offensive lineman Jeff Baca, defensive lineman Datone Jones and kick returner Josh Smith garnered third-team honors.

In addition, two UCLA greats were voted to the Pac-10 All-Decade Team -- Forbath and tight end Marcedes Lewis.

In this year's magazine, Athlon has also ranked every program in the country, based on the attractiveness of the program from a coaching perspective. The magazine considered many factors -- tradition, facilities, location, money -- but in the end, simply asked the following question: "Where would we want to coach?"  UCLA is ranked No. 14.
