This week's Honorary Captain is 1998 Outland Trophy winner Kris Farris, who played at left tackle for the Bruins from 1996-98, compiling 35 career starts. Farris was on the line during the heyday of UCLA football when the Bruins won 20 straight games, a Pac-10 title and extended their streak of victories against USC to eight games.
As a junior in 1998, he earned consensus All-America honors and was one of 12 semifinalists for the Rotary Lombardi Award. He was a third round selection in the 1999 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers and also played for the Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons. Farris, 33, earned his undergraduate degree from UCLA in 2003 and later received an MBA from the Anderson School of Management in 2009. He works as a Sale Manager for Crest Steel Corp. in Carson and lives with his family in Orange County.
