On Tuesday evening, UCLA head football coach Rick Neuheisel was honored as the Orange County Youth Sports Foundation's Sportsman of the Year.

The Spring Football Special of Prime Ticket's Rick Neuheisel  UCLA Football Weekly will make its debut this Sunday, May 1, at 4:30 pm on Prime Ticket.

Among the segments on the 30-minute show are interviews with new offensive  coordinator Mike Johnson and new defensive coordinator Joe Tresey, a feature on Alterraun Verner's return to campus to earn his degree and Coach Neuheisel and James Washington reviewing video from Spring.

The show, hosted by Bill Macdonald, also includes a feature with quarterback Richard Brehaut wearing a helmet-cam in practice and talking about the experience. In addition, Washington and Scout.com's Tracy Pierson give their thoughts on Spring Practice and there is a video of sights and sounds from the Spring Game.

The Spring Football Special will air 17 times on Prime Ticket during May. Here is the schedule:

Funeral Information For UCLA Hoops Alum Edgar Lacey

UCLA Athletics was saddened to learn of the passing of Bruin basketball alum and NCAA champion Edgar Lacey on March 22. He passed while sleeping at his home in Sacramento.

Here is the information we have on his funeral. It will be held this Friday, April 8, at 10:00 am at Calvary Chapel in Downey, located at 12808 Woodruff Avenue.

Lacey, 66, was a sophomore starter on UCLA's 1965 NCAA championship team, averaging 11.6 points and a team-high 10.2 rebounds. As a junior, he averaged 13.6 points and 9.1 rebounds but missed the final eight games due to a knee injury. Lacey also missed the entire 1966-67 season due to knee surgery. In 1967-68, he averaged 11.9 points and 7.9 rebounds in his 14 games.

 

Great Story on Two UCLA Alums Playing in Salt Lake City

Today's edition of Salt Lake City's Deseret News has a nice article on the friendship between Utah Jazz guard Earl Watson and RSL goalie Nick Rimando.

The two pro athletes became friends while attending UCLA and have stayed friends despite different career paths that have intersected in Salt Lake City.

OL Jeff Baca Out Following Ankle Surgery

UCLA junior offensive guard/tackle Jeff Baca is out indefinitely following surgery to repair a fracture of his left ankle.

Baca was injured during Thursday's practice when a teammate fell on him during a team drill. X-rays revealed the fracture and he had surgery Thursday night.

His status for Fall camp will be determined at a later date.
