The U.S. Olympic Committee, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, and the U.S. National Governing Bodies, have presented the U.S. Olympic Achievement Award to UCLA as of August, 2011.
This award is given to institutions whose student/athletes and coaches won medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games or 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games.
UCLA was recognized as one of a total of 41 schools in the nation. The ribbon for the medal was designed by Al Oerter, a four-time Olympic Gold Medalist and two-time NCAA Champion for the University of Kansas. The large scale medallion award is a presentation piece showcased as a memory of UCLA's contribution to Olympic success.
The medal (in box on the right of photo) is now in UCLA's Olympic Games display in the Athletics Hall of Fame. located on the first floor of the J.D. Morgan Center.
