The UCLA Water Polo Camp offers a competitive learning environment for athletes interested in improving their knowledge, skills, and overall confidence in the sport of water polo. Each camper should have two years of water polo and/or VERY strong swimming experience in order to participate. Campers will receive training from the best coaches and athletes in the country. The camp staff is led by the UCLA coaching staffs, as well as current members of the men's and women's water polo programs. Campers will receive personal skill instruction by position, in addition to learning UCLA's approach to conditioning, cross-training, nutrition, team strategy, and various philosophies of the game. They will learn both offensive and defensive strategies, and how to adapt them in game situations. Campers will take with them the knowledge and confidence necessary to excel in the sport of water polo. Camp fees include a camp t-shirt and awards. Be a part of the UCLA tradition and join us for an exciting summer of Bruin water polo!
YOUTH WATER POLO DAY CAMP
The Youth Water Polo Day Camp is designed for both younger swimmers interested in taking up the sport, and polo players that have already begun playing on club teams. Camp emphasis will be on the fundamentals of the sport, and will introduce basic game skills. For those campers already playing on teams, we will reinforce the fundamentals while advancing specific techniques more specific to attacking and game strategy. A strong swimming background is higly recommended for campers new to the sport, for safety reasons.
ELITE WATER POLO CAMPS (Boys & Girls)
Both of the elite camps are for ages 12-18, and the emphasis of the camp is on water polo fundamentals and position-specific training. The goal of the Elite Camps is to build on each players' fundamental skills and implement them into game strategies, specific to each position in the pool.
COED HIGH SCHOOL WATER POLO CAMPS
These camps are for high school aged players only, and focus on various offensive and defensive strategies, within a competitive learning environment. High School players are expected to have a firm grasp on the fundamentals of water polo. This camp will help develop the skills necessary to compete at a high level.
COMMUTERS (OVERNIGHT CAMPS)
Commuter fees for the overnight camp include instruction, as well as lunch each day. Commuters must check-in on the first day of camp at the same dorm location at the Resident campers. A detailed daily schedule will be provided at check-in.
