DEVELOPMENT EVENTS

Athletics' Development offer a variety of memberships that give you access to events to join our teams, coaches, athletes, alumni athletes, athletics staff and feel the Bruin Connection. These events are designed to welcome you to the UCLA Athletics family and to get to know your fellow fans and supporters. There's always something going on! Please note that all events require membership. Membership fees go to support the program that is the focus of the event. HOOPSTERS OPEN PRACTICE

Just before the season starts, Coach Howland invites you to an exclusive open practice. This is a special event that Coach throws for his most loyal of fans and supporters. You will also take home a commemorative gift. Come and have a look at our team just as the season starts. You will see the team practice/drill/scrimmage. TIP OFF DINNER

Following the Hoopsters Open Practice, let's move the party up the hill and relax and have dinner at Sunset Village. Join and meet the entire Men's Basketball Staff and entire Men's Basketball Team. Coach Howland will introduce his staff and players and give a pre-season chalk talk.

Hoopsters members, join us for two dinners exclusive to members only! These dinners bring together the most loyal fans and supporters of Men's Basketball. Each member receives a t-shirt designed specially for our Hoopsters. In January, Head Coach Ben Howland will often present a play-by-play video breakdown of our opponent that week. In February, the second dinner will also include Coach Howland's breakdown of tape. These are very interactive dinners where you have a chance to meet members of the basketball staff and ask Coach questions about the team. This is where real Bruin Basketball gets discussed...and while you're at it, let's enjoy some good food, beer, wine, cocktails, desserts...

Each year, prior to one of our weekend men's basketball games, we have our popular annual champagne brunch. This is one of our most popular events of the season. Our enthusiastic fans and donors to men's basketball join us up the hill at Covel Common to have a glass of champagne... we've had pancake bars, omelette bars loaded with all the breakfast fixings of pastries, fruit, potatoes, bacon, lox, etc... no shortage of food here! Don't be surprised if a few Bruin celebrities come by. Last year, Ed O'Bannon was there with his family, and fat this year's event Bruin Football Head Coach, Rick Neuheisel, stopped by to talk to the crowd.

Ever wonder how recruiting is going for the football program? Get your early fix of Bruin Football here... our first of many football events. Hear it first from Coach Neuheisel. Meet some of our football coaches. Watch the video designed specifically for our recruits. Have appetizers, beer, wine, and good times surrounding signing day.

The entire football team and staff gather here to have breakfast with you.. could be breakfast burritos.. could be bagels, pastries or cinnamon rolls.. but rest assured, that is a football player sitting across from you drinking orange juice. Bring the family... don't forget the kids. Autographs and commemorative gift will also be available. Best of all, Heach Coach Rick Neuheisel will introduce his entire staff. All players will be there to interact and take pictures. Right after breakfast, head up the hill and watch the team scrimmage at Drake Stadium. Get your first view of Bruin Football.

Beginning 3 hours prior to all home football games, you are invited to join fellow fans for the thrill and excitement of the UCLA football season at the Bruin Game Day Party at the Rose Bowl. Enjoy delicious buffet with a full bar, get your fresh bag of kettle corn, watch national broadcast of NCAA football games in our TV lounge stacked with giant plasma screens, experience the excitement of the UCLA Football Team Walk, show your team spirit along with the UCLA Bruin Marching Band and Spirit Squad. Are you a UCLA Bruin Football fan? If you are, and you're also a member of Coaches Roundtable, Bruin Legends, Director's Circle, or a Grant-in-Aid Scholarship donor, one of your many benefits is an annual invitation to sit in the Press Box and enjoy an unspoiled view of the Rose Bowl from above. You and your guest are invited to watch the Bruins from the Press Box for one home game during the football season. Once there, you can sit in comfort and enjoy a typical spread of "football food" in a casual atmosphere while cheering on the team with fellow Bruin fans.

Let's start off the football season right! Meet us at the Rose Bowl to watch the team scrimmage. We have the Rose Bowl to ourselves.. no crowds.. this is an exclusive event to thank our most generous donors to our Football Program. We conduct tours of the football locker room and certain key areas of the Rose Bowl. Then let's meet under the stars as we wine and dine at the steps leading up to the Rose Bowl. You might even have a senior player or coach at your table and you will certainly hear Head Coach Rick Neuheisel talk about the team and coaches and get the group fired up for the season. This is a great event that will leave you with special memories of the Rose Bowl.

Now this is a party! The entire team along with their families and friends come out to celebrate the season with the team and staff. FOOTBALL GRANT-IN-AID DONOR DINNER
November 20, 2008

When one endows a football scholarship, the gift goes directly to support a UCLA football player and pay for his tuition, books, room & board and books. Besides knowing that their gift is supporting the team, those who endow a football scholarship also get to attend a unique event. This event brings the scholarship donors together with "their player" for dinner at the Team Training Table-where the team has dinner after they practice. They are also invited to watch the team practice before dinner time. They get to converse one-on-one with the players-what a great thing to be able to tell your friends: that you got to sit and eat dinner with Troy Aikman or Ben Olson!

BASKETBALL GRANT-IN-AID DONOR/COURTSIDE SEAT HOLDER DINNER

When one endows a basketball scholarship, the gift goes directly to support a UCLA basketball player and pay for his tuition, books, or whatever else his scholarship awards him. Besides knowing that their gift is supporting the team, those who endow a basketball scholarship also get to attend a unique event. This event brings the scholarship donors and courtside seat holders together with the basketball team and coaches in a casual setting after team practice. You get to converse one-on-one with the players-what a great experience! Our Grant-In-Aid Donors receive additional benefits such as invitations to most of our events. Benefits include, but are not limited to, invitations to special events like dedication and groundbreaking events, athletic facilities tours, priority seating, including priority post-season ticket opportunities, and more.

SCHOLAR-ATHLETE BANQUET

Each spring UCLA Athletics hosts the Scholar-Athlete Banquet sponsored by Rose Gilbert, in memory of Maggie Gilbert. The banquet is in recognition of our student-athletes who put the time and effort into maintaining their high academic standing. The banquet is by invitation only. In order to be invited to the banquet, you must have completed at least 60 units at UCLA and have a cumulative grade point average (cumulative GPA) of at least 3.0. Other academic awards will be presented at the banquet such as the UCLA All Academic Team (athlete with the highest cumulative gpa from each team) and the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award (one graduating male/female with the highest cumulative gpa).

BRUIN VARSITY CLUB TAILGATE and BBQ

The most popular event that the Bruin Varsity Club runs every year is the annual Bruin Varsity Club tailgate party and BBQ. Every year UCLA picks one football game to host a pre-game party out at the Rose Bowl. Attendance has reached numbers as high as 1,300 people. At the event former-athletes, along with their friends and family meet prior to the game to eat, drink and visit with other former teammates and athletes. In past years every varsity sport has been represented at this tailgate party. This year the annual tailgate party and BBQ will be held prior to the UCLA vs. Stanford football game on October 18, 2008.

FOOTBALL ALUMNI TAILGATES - THEN NOW FOREVER

The THEN, NOW AND FOREVER Hospitality Tent, will precede all UCLA home football games where there is not a previously scheduled Bruin Varsity Club event. Open to all UCLA football alumni, the "Clubhouse" will consist of a hosted bar, food, plasma TV's and a first-rate staff. Come celebrate the all that is good with UCLA football with your fellow Bruins, and cheer on our current edition as we reunite the Bruin Family. ATHLETE REUNIONS

During a 2009 basketball game, the Bruin Varsity Club will be hosting the 40th reunion for the UCLA men's basketball 1969 NCAA championship team. Invited guests are encouraged to attend a pre-game reception here in UCLA's athletic department.

There are many sports to support at UCLA. Our fine student athletes can certainly use your help. Men's - Baseball, Basketball, Golf, Soccer, Tennis, Track & Field, Volleyball, and Water Polo. Women's - Basketball, Golf, Gymnastics, Rowing, Soccer, Swimming/Diving, Tennis, Track & Field, Volleyball, and Water Polo. Each sport have their own support clubs where members are invited to join the team for socials and their end of the year awards banquets. The party of all parties! This event punctuates the end of our season. Join all our coaches form football, basketball, to soccer, to water polo, to volleyball.. they are all here... athletes.. coaches... and even former Bruin athletes that you now see on television - Michael Warren, Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, Troy Aikman, Rafer Johnson, Peter Vidmar, etc… Revel in everything Bruin. We have wine tasting...come have your wine poured by Dick Vermeil. Yes, our former Bruin legend dabbles in wine making. We have a Taste of Westwood where diners get to sample food from all our favorite vendors. From start to finish, San Pedro Brewing Company will provide us all with varieties of libations form their signature Bruin Blonde Ale to margaritas. We will have a Live Auction that gives the lucky winner a chance to run with team through the tunnel before the game and watch the game on the sidelines or have Dinner with Coach Howland or Dinner with Coach Neuheisel. We have over 500 silent auction items where you can get a Bruin Christmas ornament to a Championship banner signed by all the players from 1965... you never know.. come check it out.. you will be back each year.
