Markel Walker
Freshman forward Markel Walker (Philadelphia, PA/Schenley HS) of the UCLA women's basketball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 25-31.

Walker recorded a pair of double-doubles as UCLA swept the weekend series against the Oregon schools. She had 17 points, a career-high tying 14 rebounds and a career-best eight assists for the Bruins, who scored a season-high 104 points in a 104-80 win over the Ducks. She also added four steals and just one turnover in 25 minutes of action. In the 70-44 win over Oregon State, Walker led all players with 16 points and had 10 rebounds, six on the offensive end. Walker shot 12-21 from the field over the two games and was 9-for-10 from the line. She leads the Bruins in rebounding with an 8.2 average and in steals with 40. She ranks second in scoring with an 11.4 average. Walker now has a team-high six double-doubles on the year, the most by a Bruin player since Noelle Quinn had 10 in 2005-06.

This is Walker's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and second of her career.
