On Saturday, October 18, the UCLA Athletic Department hosted the Second Annual Life Pass Tailgate Party at the Rose Bowl. Former student-athletes from as far back as the 1940's came together to reminisce with family, friends, and former teammates, prior to enjoying the Bruins' overtime 23-20 football victory against the California Bears.

The atmosphere was a lively one. Over a thousand attendees shared hugs, handshakes and stories about their days at UCLA. Current UCLA student and Athletics Marketing intern, Stephen Park had a chance to observe the event. He commented, "It was really neat watching former athletes reunite and reflect on their past experiences as Bruins."

Andre Robitaille, a former Men's Rowing team member reflected, "I think this is one of the greatest things to come along since the All Sports Days back in the 50's and 60's. I get to see old friends and teammates, as well as Fraternity brothers. I get a chance to remember and catch up. I hope they keep doing this every year."

UCLA Head Men's Volleyball coach, Al Scates expressed similar feelings, "I brought my family and they had a great time too. It's a great concept. I saw former players as well as people I haven't seen since I was a student at UCLA...that's something special!"

This year's Life Pass Tailgate Party was undoubtedly a huge success, reuniting hundreds of former teammates. Attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch catered by the Newport Rib Company just before kickoff. The event was larger than last year, and many attendees expressed hope that it will keep growing for years to come. Please visit the photo gallery for pictures of this event.
