I'm Going to College Program
UCLA's I'm Going to College (IGTC) program, the nation's largest collegiate community outreach effort, has touched the lives of thousands of elementary, middle and high school students across Southern California. Offered through Southern California school systems, this unique program couples the excitement and tradition of UCLA Athletic events with a message about the importance of higher education. UCLA Faculty & Staff, alumni, current students and student-athletes are instrumental in facilitating the success of this game day program as they guide thousands of children through educational fairs, campus tours and special attractions. Children delight in the success of Bruin teams, however, they leave I'm Going to College events with a greater understanding of the college environment and a feeling that it is an attainable goal for their own futures.

Host a Booth at the Pre-Event IGTC Fair
Each I'm Going to College program includes a pre-event fair. Participants are greeted by tour guides and interact with a variety of groups including current UCLA student-athletes, UCLA alumni and various UCLA departments. Our goal is to build this pre-event fair area into an opportunity for participants to gain exposure and insight into all aspects of life at UCLA. The majority of our participants are in middle school. Frequently, their involvement in the I'm Going to College program is their first exposure to UCLA or any other form of higher education. Your department may have something to share with this group of children and we encourage you to consider participating in the pre-event fair by setting up and manning a booth. You may also help by volunteering your time to help run many aspects of the day's events:

¨ Give aways
¨ Autographs
¨ Volunteer stations
¨ General event help

We provide lunch, an I'm Going to College t-shirt and a ticket to the day's event for each volunteer. Letters of participation for outreach programs may also be provided upon request. We encourage members of the UCLA Faculty and Staff community to join us in this event, but this opportunity is not limited to only the Bruin Family. Family and friends are welcome to join the volunteer efforts. Our only requirement is a big smile! 2008 IGTC Events

Annually, we host 5-6 IGTC events. The first two events for the 2008-09 school year have been scheduled for the following dates:

Saturday, October 4, 2008
UCLA Football vs. Washington State

Saturday, November 8, 2008
UCLA Football vs. Oregon St.

Both events will take place in the FoodZone at the Rose Bowl and kick-off times are still to be determined. We will also be scheduling IGTC events on campus for Women's Basketball, Women's Gymnastics and Track & Field and we recommend checking back with this website for updated information.
