Freshman Sara Walker (El Paso, TX/Franklin HS) of the women's tennis team was selected the MET-Rx UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 10-17.

Walker became the first freshman in the 24-year history of the NCTC Classic to win both the singles and doubles tournament. Walker defeated No. 2 seeded Jewell Peterson of USC in the championship match, 7-5, 6-0, then later in the day teamed with Amanda Basica to win the doubles championship, 8-4.

Walker, who did not lose a set during the entire tournament, became UCLA¹s first-ever NCTC women¹s singles champion and UCLA¹s first doubles champion since 1991.
