Woepse Leads Track & Field at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational

Mike Woepse was one of many highlights for the men's and women's track and field team at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque, NM as the junior won the pole vault competition. Kylie Price impressed with a fourth place finish in the 60m and Alexis Walker also earned fourth place in the high jump.
Woepse recorded a new personal best indoor with a vault of 18-04.50. In the unseeded pole vault, Connor Stark placed fourth (16-00.75), Mark Sakioka was fifth (16-00.75) and Dominic Giovannoni finished tenth (15-07.00).
In the triple jump, Dillon Stucky finished in sixth place with a jump of 50-04.50. Nicholas Scarvelis led all Bruins in the shot put with a third place finish (60-01.25), and was followed by Marcus Nilsson (11th, 47-05.00) and Dominic Giovannoni (15th, 38-11.00).
Pete Lauderdale and Lajion White finished in seventh and 12th place, respectively, with times of 21.51 and 21.84. In the 400m, Jarrett Gonzales placed 17th in a time of 49.14. In the 60m hurdles, Dominic Giovannoni finished in 8.28 in 13th place.
In the 200m, Breyonna Hunter placed 11th in a time of 24.73 and Kelly Rhines finished in 16th in a time of 25.13, while Brea Buchanan (25.27) and Sydney Lewis (25.36) finished in 17th and 18th, respectively. Breyonna Hunter finished in eighth place (55.72) in the 400m with Kelly Rhines just behind her in tenth (57.51).
Then Bruins were led by Alexis Walker in the high jump in fourth place with a best of 1.73m, who was followed by Zibby Boyer in 11th (1.63m), Tatum Souza in 13th (1.63m) and Mariah Gibson in 14th (1.63m).
In the unseeded pole vault, Natasha Kolbo finished in second place with a total of 13-06.25. She was joined by Allison Koressel (3rd, 13-02.25), Courtney Reginato (6th, 12-10.25) and Liz Goodrich (10th, 12-10.25).
Kyle Price finished in second in the long jump with a distance of 6.33m, while Tatum Souza jumped 5.23m for 26th place. Souza then threw for 41-02.25 in the shot put and a 16th place finish.
The middle and long distance runners are competing once again at the Dempsey Indoor facility on Saturday in Seattle for Day 2 of the UW Husky Classic.
