Cross Country Runners to Compete at USA Cross Country Championships

Nine members of the UCLA cross country team will travel to St. Louis on Saturday to compete at the 2013 USA Cross Country Championships.
The USA Cross Country Championships brings together America's distance runners to serve as the trials race to select the Team USA squad that will compete at the 2013 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. The top six finishers for men and women will advance to represent Team USA in the World Cross Country Championships. That meet is scheduled to be held in Bydgoszcz, Poland on March 24, 2013.
Competing on the women's side are Caitlin Schmitt, Bronte Golick, Nicole Evans, Katja Golding, Lyndsey Mull and Rachel Brajkovich. This is the second appearance for Schmitt and Goldring in the annual event. Schmitt, a junior, competed at the 2011 event in San Diego, finsihing 37th overall. She was joined by fellow Bruins Sierra Vega, Hannah Valenzuela and Amber Murakami. This will be Goldring's first appearance since she competed here in 2009.
The men's race will feature Michael McCabe, Jacob Wood and Nohe Lema. Wood was another member of the Bruin's squad that competed in 2009 in San Diego. He finished 32nd overall in the 8k race that also featured Dustin Fay and Chase Zukerman. McCabe, a freshman, will be making his first appearance.
The women's 6k race kicks off at 1pm, followed by the men's 8k race at 1:45pm. For more information on the championships, click here.
