Cross Country Heads North For Stanford Invitational

The men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Palo Alto to compete in the 38th annual Stanford Invitational on Saturday where the Bruins will face some tough competition. The meet features the No. 3 Stanford men and the No. 6 Cardinal women. No other team in the top 25 will be competing in the invite. The Bruin men are ranked seventh in the West Region, while the women are 10th. The collegiate men's 8k race will go off at 10:50 am, followed by the women's 6k race at 11:30 am. So far this season, the Bruin men have tallied two meet wins - the Nevada Chase Race and the Aztec Invite. The women have posted runner-up finishes at both of those meets. Competing for the women are - junior Katja Goldring; sophomores Rachel Butler, Caitlin Schmitt, Melissa Skiba and Sierra Vega; and freshmen Bronte Golick, Meghan Marvin, Annie Mooney and Kelsey Smith. This will be Skiba and Vega's first meet of the season after having successful freshmen campaigns in 2010. On the men's side, the Bruins will be represented by - seniors Dylan Knight and Kent Morikawa; juniors Alec Govi and Zack Torres; sophomores Joel Ambo, Dustin Fay and Nohe Lema; and freshmen Amjed Aboukhadijeh, Daniel Rosales and Chase Zukerman. |
