Cross Country Splits For Two Meets This Weekend

The men's and women's cross country teams will split into two this weekend as one group will travel to Madison, Wisconsin to compete in the adidas Invitational (Friday) and the other will travel to Santa Clara for the Bronco Invite (Saturday). The adidas Invitational features 40 men's teams (20 of which are ranked in the top 30) and 41 women's teams (19 of which are ranked in the top 30). The women's 6k race begins at 1:00 pm (CST), with the men's 8k to follow at 1:40 pm (CST). The men's team, who are ranked 22nd in the national poll, will send the same squad that competed at the Notre Dame Invite to Madison. Competing will be seniors Dylan Knight and Kent Morikawa, junior Zack Torres, sophomores Dustin Fay and Nohe Lema, and freshmen Shayne Collins, Lane Werley and Chase Zukerman. The women's team will be represented by juniors Katja Goldring and Sarah Toberty, sophomore Caitlin Schmitt and freshmen Bronte Golick, Annie Mooney, Kelsey Smith and Hannah Valenzuela. The Bronco Invite features over 800 athletes. The women's race will start at 9:45 with the men's to follow at 10:30. Heading to the Bronco Invite for the men's team are junior Alec Govi, sophomores Joel Ambo, Philip MacQuitty and Brett Walters, and freshmen Amjed Aboukhadijeh, Sean Grumney, Philip Kostelnik, Anthony Martore Daniel Rosales and Tommy Williams. Women competing in Santa Clara include senior Taryn Pastoor, junior Allie Lopez, sophomores Rachel Butler, Amber Murakami, Paisley Pettway, Kristina Rivera, Elle Sanders and Melissa Skiba, and freshmen Zoe Pappas and Michelle Pittman. |
