HONOLULU, Hawai'i- The UCLA Bruins baseball team fell at the hands of the Hawai'i Rainbows, 8-6, before an announced crowd of 2,484 at Rainbow Stadium.
The Bruins came out strong behind the starting pitching effort of Ryan Reightly, who gave up two runs on six innings pitched. UCLA managed to build a 4-2 lead through four innings, and then extended it to 6-2 after their top of the eighth. Cassidy Olson was the brightest offensive player for UCLA, going 2-for-5 with 3 RBI's.
However, in the bottom of the eighth, the Rainbows mounted an attack on the relieving pitching efforts of Bobby Roe, Jon Brandt and Matt Klein for the Bruins. Hawai'i put up six runs in their half of the inning to take an 8-6 lead that would never be relinquished.
With the loss, UCLA falls to 1-3 on the young season.
