Bruins leading going into 5th inning let their gaurd down.

On Friday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium, Stanford defeated UCLA 18-6. The Bruins led 5-4 entering the fifth inning but were outscored 14-1 the rest of the way.
Freshmen Garrett Atkins and Chase Utley and sophomore Michael Hymes had two hits apiece for UCLA. A bright spot for the Bruins was freshman Nick Lyon who slugged a home run over the left field wall in the ninth inning. Lyon had homered in his previous at bat, on 2/15 against California. Lyon improved to 3-3 with two home runs and a double on the season.
Junior sensation Jeff Austin struck out 11 Bruins in eight innings to earn the victory for Stanford.
