No. 11 UCLA Baseball Wins at No. 8 Cal State Fullerton, 6-3

FULLERTON, Calif. - The No. 11 UCLA baseball team scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to snap a 3-3 tie and defeat Cal State Fullerton, 6-3, before 2,264 at Goodwin Field on Tuesday night.
The Bruins (36-13) won their fifth straight game, registered their eighth win in their last nine contests, and swept the season series against Cal State Fullerton (32-16).
UCLA has gone 10-0 in midweek contests this season and has compiled a 17-3 record in road and neutral site games.
Scott Griggs (1-1) earned the victory in relief, recording three strikeouts and no walks in 1.2 hitless innings of relief.
In a closely-contested affair, Cal State Fullerton tied the contest, 3-3, by scoring one run on an error in the bottom of the eighth inning. The visiting Bruins broke through with three runs in the ninth inning, including a key two-out, two-RBI single by Shane Zeile.
With one out in the top of the ninth inning, Trevor Brown provided UCLA with the game-winning hit. The junior from Valencia, Calif., grounded a one-out single into left field with runners on the corners, allowing pinch-runner Brian Carroll to scored and give UCLA a 4-3 lead. Two batters later, Zeile followed with a two-run, two-out single through the right side of the infield, extending the Bruins' margin to 6-3.
Cal State Fullerton's Jose Cardona (0-2) absorbed the loss, surrendering three runs (two earned) and four hits in 2.1 innings of relief.
UCLA took the game's first lead with a two-run double by Kevin Kramer in the second inning. Cal State Fullerton tied the game, scoring one run in each of the fourth and fifth innings.
The Bruins broke the 2-2 tie with one run in the top of the seventh. With Kramer at second base, Keefer grounded a run-scoring double down the right field line.
The Titans tied the contest, 3-3, in the bottom of the eighth. Anthony Hutting scored from second base on a groundball fielded by Pat Valaika at shortstop. Valaika's throw to third base was mishandled by Kramer and bounced to the Titans' dugout, allowing Hutting to advance home.
UCLA starting pitcher Grant Watson allowed two runs (one earned) and six hits in 4.2 innings. Cal State Fullerton's Koby Gauna surrendered two runs and five hits in 5.1 innings as the Titans' starter.
UCLA opens a three-game Pac-12 series at California (26-22, 9-15) on Friday afternoon.
