FULLERTON, Calif. - Freshman left-hander Gavin Brooks (6-7) struck out a career-high 12 hitters in his third consecutive complete game to lead the UCLA baseball team in a 2-1 loss at Cal State Fullerton Sunday evening, as the Bruins were eliminated in a best-of-three Super Regional series.

Freshman center fielder Justin Uribe finished 2-for-4, including a leadoff double in the top of the ninth inning in a nine-pitch at-bat to keep the Bruins' postseason run alive. Freshman right fielder Gabe Cohen registered a 2-for-4 effort and scored one run.

Brooks absorbed the loss after surrendering just two runs and seven hits through eight innings. The southpaw from Vista, Calif., did not issue a walk and retired the first nine batters he faced.

Cal State Fullerton right-hander Adam Jorgensen (4-2) recorded his fourth victory, as he pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning. Right-hander Bryan Harris notched his third save after limiting UCLA to two hits through 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.

Cal State Fullerton (38-23) broke a 1-1 deadlock on an RBI-single to center by first baseman Matt Wallach, scoring catcher John Curtis from second base.

UCLA (33-28) assumed a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth. With the bases loaded, catcher Ryan Babineau lined a base-hit into left field, scoring right fielder Gabe Cohen. The host Titans tied the ballgame, 1-1, on a solo home run by center fielder Clark Hardman in the bottom of the sixth inning.
