TUCSON, Ariz. - UCLA junior right-hander Trevor Bauer has captured Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week for the third time in his career, as announced Monday by Collegiate Baseball. Bauer registered career highs with 17 strikeouts in 10 innings in UCLA's 2-1, 12-inning loss at Nebraska on Saturday.

Bauer (1-1, 1.85 ERA) limited the host Cornhuskers to one run and four hits through 10 innings and did not record a decision. He eclipsed his previous career-high 15 strikeouts, logging at least 10 strikeouts in one game for the 11th time in his career. Bauer's 17-strikeout effort came in 33-degree weather at Nebraska's Haymarket Park.

Last season, Bauer secured Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors after a 15-strikeout performance against Mississippi State (March 13, 2010) at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas. As a freshman, he captured the weekly award following a one-hit complete game shutout of Washington (April 18, 2009). In that ballgame, Bauer struck out nine batters, allowing two walks and facing one batter above the minimum.

Through his first three starts this season, Bauer has recorded a team-best 33 strikeouts and 11 walks in a team-leading 24.1 innings. The right-hander from Valencia, Calif., has limited the opposition to a .171 batting average.

UCLA returns to action against Georgia at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Friday in the second annual Dodgertown Classic presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California. Game time is 6 p.m. UCLA will face Saint Mary's on Saturday at 2 p.m. (at Jackie Robinson Stadium), before taking on USC at Dodger Stadium on Sunday.

Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance for the game at Dodger Stadium this Sunday. Tickets purchased in advance from UCLA's Central Ticket Office cost $5, while tickets bought in advance from Ticketmaster or at Dodger Stadium cost $7. Day of game tickets at Dodger Stadium will cost $12. Parking is free at Dodger Stadium.
