Junior third baseman Brandon Averill was named Pac-10 Player of the Week for his performance against USC last weekend. The honor is the first for Averill.
Averill, from Orange, Calif., hit .417 (5-for-12) over the weekend and led the team with seven RBI in UCLA's 2-1 series win over No. 18 USC. Averill finished the series with a team-high two doubles and 10 total bases. He also added a three-run home run, his second of the season, and scored three runs.
In a 17-5 win on March 9, Averill had a two RBI
double that opened the floodgates for a ten-run inning. The Bruins
took the series against the Trojans for the first time since the 2000
season.
