2012 CWS Central | UCLA's College World Series Notes

OMAHA, Neb. - The UCLA baseball team will open the 2012 College World Series against Stony Brook on Friday, June 15, at 2 p.m. (PT)/4 p.m. (CT). The 66th College World Series will take place for the second season at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha from June 15-25/26.

Stony Brook (52-13) won the final two of three games against LSU at the NCAA Baton Rouge Super Regional over the weekend, becoming the first America East Conference team to ever reach the NCAA Super Regional round.

UCLA (47-14) has secured its second-highest single-season win total after having earned back-to-back conference championships for the first time in program history.

In his eighth season at the helm of UCLA's program, John Savage has become UCLA's first head coach to ever lead the Bruins to multiple College World Series appearances. Savage led UCLA to its first-ever apperance in the championship round of the College World Series in 2010.

Friday's second game features Florida State (48-15) against Arizona (43-17), the second Pac-12 Conference representative at this season's College World Series. Game time between FSU and Arizona is slated for 6 p.m. (PT)/8 p.m. (CT).

The doubleheader on Saturday features Arkansas (44-20) against Kent State (46-18), which has earned its first-ever trip to the College World Series. That game will begin at 2 p.m. (PT)/4 p.m. (CT). The day's second contest features Florida (47-18) and two-time defending national champion South Carolina (45-17) at 6 p.m. (PT)/8 p.m. (CT).

The losing teams on Friday will play each other at 2 p.m. (PT)/4 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, June 17. Friday's two winning ballclubs will face off at 6 p.m. (PT)/8 p.m. (CT) that evening. The losers of Saturday's games will play each other at 2 p.m. (PT)/4 p.m. (CT) on Monday, while Saturday's winners meet Monday at 6 p.m. (PT)/8 p.m. (CT).

The winners of the two brackets will play a best-of-three series for the NCAA championship beginning Sunday, June 24. All three games in the best-of-three series (June 24-26) are slated to begin at 5 p.m. (PT)/7 p.m. (CT).
