CARY, N.C. - UCLA right-hander Trevor Bauer struck out 13 batters in a two-hit, complete-game effort to lead the USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) past Guatemala, 18-0, on Friday, July 3. Bauer (1-0) recorded his first victory pitching for the National Team in a contest at Coleman Field (USA National Training Complex).

Bauer took the mound in the bottom of the first inning with the U.S. team already staked to an 8-0 lead. The right-hander from Valencia, Calif., allowed just two baserunners in seven innings - one single in the second inning and one double in the sixth.

Bauer faced 23 hitters - two batters over the minimum - and did not issue any walks.

Pitching before 2,017 fans at the National Training Complex, Bauer helped lead Team USA to its eighth consecutive victory of the summer. The U.S. National Team eventually swept the four-game set against Guatemala with an 18-1 victory on Saturday, July 4.

Team USA continued its undefeated streak Sunday, outlasting the New England Collegiate Baseball League's (NECBL) All-Star Team by a 4-1 margin.

The U.S. National Team returns to action Monday against the Holyoke Blue Sox of the NECBL. Bauer and Team USA teammate Gerrit Cole will face UCLA teammates Mitchell Beacom, Chase Brewer and Steve Rodriguez of the Holyoke Blue Sox. Team USA plays the NECBL's North Shore Navigators on Tuesday before traveling to play in Japan from July 10-16.
