Tucson, Ariz. - Junior right-hander Adam Plutko picked up more preseason All-America honors today, being selected as a first-team preseason All-American by Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball.

Plutko captured third-team All-America honors from Baseball America and second-team All-America acclaim from Perfect Game USA last season, in addition to being named to the All-Pac-12 Conference team for the second straight season. He went 12-3 with a 2.48 ERA during his sophomore year, striking out 99 batters in 119.2 innings as the ace of the UCLA pitching staff. Plutko also finished the 2012 season with a 7-0 record in his final seven starts, sporting a 0.89 ERA and a .180 opposing batting average in that span.

This is the second consecutive year that Plutko has earned preseason All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball, as he was named a third-team preseason All-American before the 2012 season. Last week, Plutko was selected as a first-team preseason All-American by the NCBWA.

The Bruins came in at No. 5 in Collegiate Baseball's preseason top-40 poll on Thursday and will open the 2013 season with a three-game series against Minnesota beginning on Friday, Feb. 15 at Jackie Robinson Stadium. For UCLA's complete 2013 schedule, click here.
