UCLA lost its exhibition opener Wednesday to Branch West, 92-67, before 3,384 in Pauley Pavilion. It was UCLA's first exhibition loss since 1993 (Nov. 23), when the Bruins were beaten by the Australian National team 96-85.

Branch West had five players in double figures, led by Nate Pondexter's game-high 21 points and a game-high 12 rebounds and Horacio Llamas' 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Bruins had two players in double figures, senior Ray Young with a team-high 15 points and sophomore Dijon Thompson, with 14.

UCLA's next exhibition game is Tuesday, Nov. 19 vs. EA Sports East All-Stars in Pauley Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. Branch West advances to 2-3 for the season and plays at Marshall on Nov. 16.

The Bruins' regular-season opener is Tuesday, Nov. 26 vs. U. of San Diego in Pauley Pavilion at 7:30 p.m.
