The Bruins won the Tournament title in 2008, 2006 and in 1987, all three times as the No. 1 seed. The Bruins swept the regular season series with USC during 2011-12, winning 66-47 at USC on Jan. 15 and 64-54 at the Sports Arena on Feb. 15. UCLA sports an all-time record of 15-11 (.577) in the Pac-12 Tournament. Head Coach Ben Howland is 8-6 (.571) in the Pac-12 Tournament with two Tournament titles. The Bruins are 1-1 all-time against USC in the Pac-12 Tournament. The Trojans won the last meeting in the Pac-12 Tournament, upsetting then-15th-ranked UCLA 65-55 in the 2009 semifinals. In the history of the Pac-12 Tournament, the No. 5 seeds are just 6-13 overall in the Pac-12 Tournament and have only one Tournament title (Oregon in 2003).

His 100th career victory came in his second season at Pittsburgh in the 77-65 win at home over Seton Hall (Jan. 13, 2001). His 200th win came in his third season at UCLA with the 56-37 home win over Delaware State (Nov. 19, 2005). Howland is 19-9 (.679) in the NCAA Tournament (15-6 (.714) at UCLA).
