March 11, 2008

UCLA legendary former basketball coach John Wooden has been released from a local hospital and is doing well, according to his son, Jim Wooden.

Coach Wooden is now at a local rehabilitation center, the name and location of which is being withheld at the family's request.

"Dad had one of his better days today," Jim Wooden said. "He is now at a local rehab facility where he will do exercises two to three times daily. As soon as his strength is back, we will get him home."

Wooden said his father wanted to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and the many get-well cards he has received.

Coach Wooden, 97, was hospitalized on February 29 with a hairline fracture of his left wrist and a fractured left collarbone he sustained in a fall in his condo the previous night.

Now that Coach Wooden has been released from the hospital, daily updates on his condition will not be issued.
