Pauley Pavilion Renovation Update
March 23, 2011
Here is an update on the Pauley Pavilion Renovation Project.
On February 26, the men's basketball team played its final game in the current version of Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins defeated Arizona and Tyler Trapani, Coach John Wooden's great grandson, scored UCLA's final basket in the version of Pauley that Coach Wooden helped design. Following the game, fans were invited to take pictures on the court.
The following Saturday, March 5, the women's team played its final game in Pauley, defeating Washington State.
This past Saturday, Pauley hosted its final gymnastics event - the Pac-10 Championships - with UCLA placing second.
In between the final women's basketball game and the Pac-10 gymnastics event, all of the upper level (yellow) seats were removed from the building.
This Thursday's men's volleyball match will be the final intercollegiate competition in Pauley until the Fall of 2012. The building's final event is a student-run basketball competition on Saturday.
In the next week or two, the building will be turned over to the contractor to begin the interior renovation, including the removal of the remaining seats. As you know, renovation work has been happening on the exterior throughout this past basketball season.
In the next few weeks, we will be launching a "Virtual Venue" site that will give fans a digital look at the interior of new Pauley. Fans will be able to click on a seat location and see the view of Pauley from the perspective of that particular seat.
Also in the near future, we will be launching a page on our website that will have updated pictures of the interior and exterior renovations throughout the next 18 months.
This is also the time for UCLA fans to join the Campaign of Champions by contributing to the ongoing renovation efforts. June 1 is the lock-in date for the Priority Points that will be used in the seat selection process for renovated Pauley Pavilion. Point statements are being mailed to donors and season ticket holders this week. To learn more about the campaign, please click here: campaignofchampions.com.
