Darren Collison Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

The EA Sports Maui Invitational's MVP Has Garnered Another Honor

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA guard Darren Collison has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for November 20-26, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Collison, a sophomore from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., averaged 13.3 points, 7.0 assists and 2.7 steals in leading the Bruins to the EA Sports Maui Invitational title. He was named MVP of the Invitational after shooting 12-of-20 (.600) from the field, 4-of-9 (.444) from three-point range, and 12-of-16 (.750) from the free throw line. The point guard was vital in guiding the Bruins to 52.8 percent shooting from the field for the three games.

In the opening game vs. Chaminade, he scored 15 points, dished out seven assists and grabbed five steals. In the semifinal win over No. 20 Kentucky, he scored 10 points, dished out another seven assists and grabbed three steals. In the championship game win over No. 19 Georgia Tech, Collison scored 15 points, hitting 10-of-12 from the the free-throw line, and passed out seven assists.

This is the first weekly honor for Collison and UCLA's 43rd Player of the Week all-time.
