IN THE POLLS
UCLA is unranked in the AP Top 25 and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll (Dec. 13). The Bruins are no longer receiving votes in either poll. The BYU Cougars are 10-0 on the season and ranked 16th in the AP poll and 18th in the Coaches Poll.
SERIES VS. BYU
This is the 23rd meeting between BYU and UCLA with the series tied at 11-11. UCLA won the last meeting with the Cougars, 82-69, in Pauley Pavilion in the 2006-07 season opener on Nov. 16, 2006. UCLA Head Coach Ben Howland is 1-0 all-time against BYU.
BRUINS' INJURY REPORT
Junior guard Malcolm Lee has a strained patellar tendon in his right knee. Lee sustained the injury early in the second half of the Montana game (Dec. 5) when he was fouled while going up for a layup. Lee has started in the last two games for the Bruins (vs. Cal Poly, Dec. 11, and UC Davis, Dec. 13) since the injury.
UCLA IN THE WOODEN CLASSIC
This is UCLA's 14th appearance in the John R. Wooden Classic. The Bruins are 9-4 (.692) all-time in Wooden Classic matchups. UCLA is 8-0 in the Wooden Classic when they are ranked and 1-4 as an unranked team. The Bruins dropped a 72-54 decision to unranked Mississippi State on Dec. 12, 2009 to snap UCLA's streak of four-consecutive Wooden Classic victories. Ravern Johnson scored a career-high 29 points and Jarvis Varnado had 13 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks for the Bulldogs. Michael Roll scored 17 points and Malcolm Lee had 16 for the Bruins, who lost their fifth straight game of the season. UCLA enters this year on a modest two-game win streak.
