SERIES: UCLA leads 87-33

#1 UCLA vs. #13 WASHINGTON
This is the 121st meeting between UCLA and Washington with the Bruins leading the series 87-33, including winning 31 of the last 41 games. However, Washington swept the season series (first time since 1987) last year, snapping a 19-game losing streak in Pauley Pavilion in the process. The Huskies posted a 69-65 victory in Los Angeles on Jan. 14, 2006 and a 70-67 win in Seattle on Feb. 11, 2006. The Bruins are 40-3 against the Huskies in Pauley Pavilion (since 1965) and 55-6 against Washington at home. Bruin head coach Ben Howland is 3-4 against Washington while UW head coach Lorenzo Romar is 4-5 versus UCLA. Romar served four seasons as an assistant coach on Jim Harrick's UCLA staff from 1993-96. Additionally, UW assistant coach Cameron Dollar was a four-year (1994-97) letterman and two-year starter at UCLA, winning a national title in 1995 and three Pacific-10 Conference championships (1995, 1996 and 1997). Dollar still ranks third on the UCLA career charts in steals (214) and eighth in assists (451).

NATIONAL POLLS
UCLA was preseason rated No. 5 (tied with Pittsburgh) in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 6 in the Associated Press poll, marking the second straight season that the Bruins were ranked in the preseason polls. The Bruins are currently ranked first in both the Associated Press (unanimous, all 31 first-place votes) and ESPN/USA Today (71-of-72 first-place votes) polls.
