Mike Babcock is in his eighth season with the UCLA football program and fifth as a member of the coaching staff. This will be his third season serving as a graduate assistant coach after spending the two previous years as an undergraduate assistant coach.

This season he will assist offensive coordinator Tom Cable and help coach on the offensive side of the ball. Last season, he worked with Don Johnson's defensive line unit. His duties will also include breaking down opponent's film, aiding the coaches with game preparation and directing the scout team.

Babcock entered UCLA in the Fall of 1997 and was a member of the Bruin football team. He played three seasons as an inside linebacker. In the 1997 and 1998 seasons, he was a member of the Pac-10 Conference championship teams, which played in the Cotton Bowl (1998) and Rose Bowl (1999). He began working as a member of the coaching staff in the 2000 season.

Mike graduated in 1997 from Miramonte High School in Orinda, CA where he played football for coach Floyd Burnsed. A two-year varsity performer, Babcock earned first-team all-league honors in his senior season. He was also a member of the baseball team.
