In the third game of the season against Michigan, he suffered torn meniscus cartilage in his left knee
He had an arthroscopy the following week to remove the cartilage and also two screws from a high school operation
Since he only appeared in three games, he was granted a substitute year (medical hardship) of eligibility by the Pac-10 Faculty Athletic Representatives
In the opener against Alabama, he helped hold the Crimson Tide to just 265 yards total offense
