UCLA CAREER NOTES-- -- Markey ended his career eighth on the UCLA career rushing list with 579 carries for 2,733 yards and third all-time on the career all-purpose yardage list (Rush-2,733; Recieving-645; PR-579; KR-790; Total-4,225) ... He also had eight games in which he rushed for 100 yards or more ... He made 68 career receptions to rank 27th on that UCLA list and first among Bruin running backs (Maurice Drew had 64) ... Markey was just the fifth back in UCLA history to rush for at least 190 yards in two or more games in a career (he had 208 versus Rice in 2006) ... The others were Gaston Green (four), Freeman McNeil (three), Karim Abdul-Jabbar (three) and Theotis Brown (two).
2007-- -- The true senior was on the pre-season Watch List for the Maxwell Award, presented to the nation's top player, and the Doak Walker Award, presented to the nation's top running back ... Markey was the 14th Bruin to rush for 2,000 yards in a career ... He rushed for 715 yards (4.1 average) and three touchdowns for the season and his average of 59.58 yards was 11th in the Pac-10 ... In the opener at Stanford, he ran for 71 yards on 20 carries and made one reception (two yards) ... Against BYU, he rushed for 50 yards on 16 carries, scoring the clinching three-yard touchdown with 1:12 remaining in the game ... He ran for 22 yards on that scoring drive ... At Utah, he carried 10 times for 32 net yards (long of 20) and caught one pass for four yards ... 2006 -- Markey started all 13 of UCLA's games ... On the year, he averaged 85.15 yards on the ground and 105.92 all-purpose yards ... He ranked fourth in the Pac-10 and 32nd nationally in rushing yards (85.15) and 56th in the NCAA and eighth in the Pac-10 in all-purpose yards (105.92) ... He also led the team with 35 receptions and became the first Bruin since Kermit Alexander in 1962 to lead the team in both rushing and receptions ... His 1,107 rushing yards rank 11th on UCLA's single-season list and were the most by a Bruin since 2001, when DeShaun Foster ran for 1,109 ...
