He played the entire second half of the Fresno State contest (36 snaps) in relief of McCann, completing five of 10 passes for 29 yards and directing two fourth-quarter touchdown drives that built UCLAs 10-7 halftime lead to 24-7
In the Sun Bowl against Wisconsin, he played two snaps in the second quarter and the entire second half (32 snaps) after Paus fractured his left collarbone
McEwan completed 12 of 18 passes for 135 yards -- all career highs -- and drove the Bruins to a field goal on their first possession of the final half.
1999 Saw action in six games with a high of 17 plays at Oregon State where he completed two of nine passes for 23 yards with one interception
Relieved starter Cory Paus (shoulder injury) in the second quarter and ran the club for three series in the second half
The following week against Arizona, he played one fourth-quarter series and threw four incompletions
