Members of the UCLA football team visited 186th Elementary School on Thursday, January 31 to participate in the Eighth Annual Super Bowl School Spirit Day to celebrate the student's commitment to academic excellence.
Librado Barocio, Jeremy Castro, Ryan Davis, Mitch Johnson, Owamagbe Odighizuwa, Paul Perkins, Lacy Westbrook, and Ka'imi Fairbairn represented the Bruin team and spent the afternoon visiting classrooms.
The Bruins participated in an after-school assembly that promoted the importance of citizenship, scholarship and sportsmanship. They encouraged the students to strive for excellence, respect their teachers, do their homework and work hard to achieve their goals and dreams. The players formed a receiving line for all of the children in attendance to go down the line and receive high fives and finished their visit by signing autographs, taking pictures and encouraging students to continue to do their best.
