Ben Olson Named Starting Quarterback for the Bruins

Head Coach Karl Dorrell names Olson QB after Thursday's practice

April 26, 2007

Head football coach Karl Dorrell has named Ben Olson the starting quarterback for the 2007 football season. Dorrell made the announcement on Thursday evening at the conclusion of practice.

"We decided to go ahead and make a decision on the quarterback and we're going to name Ben Olson the starter," said Dorrell. "So he'll start the scrimmage. I talked to both parties. We feel that it was a good time to do it. We found out all the information we needed. Like I said before, we're really fortunate to have two caliber of guys in our program that we can play with.

"Ben is more consistent and threw for a higher percentage and was a little more productive and that was the difference in how things worked.

"We're ready to move forward and keep building on our offense and what we've installed at this point. We still have a lot of work to do in the offseason to become as good as we can be. But we feel strongly that we have the talent and experience and potential on this football team to be a very very good offense. With an experienced defense back, we feel we have the chance to make a strong statement this season."

The Bruins wrap up spring practice on Friday with a scrimmage under the lights beginning at 7:00 pm at Spaulding Field.
