Construction Continues on Rose Bowl Stadium as UCLA Opens 2012 Home Season
Sept. 5, 2012
Fans who attend UCLA Football's 2012 home opener against Nebraska at the Rose Bowl stadium this Saturday - or any of the other six home games on the Bruins schedule - are reminded that construction efforts remain underway at the stadium. Particularly on the West side of the stadium, work continues with portable restrooms installed for guests.
Since the conclusion of the 2012 Rose Bowl Game, four patron tunnels in the North end of the bowl have been widened for easier ingress and egress, as well as new aisles and handrails in the north end of the stadium. In addition, the shell of a new Pavilion, four times the size of the old facility, has been completed. Several levels of the Pavilion, including broadcast booths, 26 suites, 300 club seats, donor areas and working media areas are ready for use this season and the entire facility will be completed prior to the 2013 season.
Stadium improvements are expected to occur following the 2012 season, which will include field-level exiting, which is expected to improve circulation on the concourse of the 90-year-old facility.
When completed, all of the improvements to the stadium, both visible and unseen, will improve the fan experience while maintaining the stadium's iconic and historic status. Public safety will be enhanced, and new revenue sources will be able to fund continued improvements and upgrades to the Pasadena landmark.
Parking spots in Lot H (south of the bowl) and Brookside Park and Golf Course will be sold for $20 per car on game days by the Rose Bowl Operating Company. In addition, parking in RV designated lots is $50. Parking lots open six (6) hours prior to kick-off. Handicapped parking is available immediately adjacent to the Rose Bowl, and vehicles must display a valid State of California handicapped placard and registration upon entering the lots. Parking is also available at the Parsons' lot in Pasadena for $12 on game day and features a free round-trip shuttle to and from the Rose Bowl Lot B, beginning 3 hours prior to kick-off and ending 1 hour after the game.
UCLA will continue to host the Bruin Fan Zone in Area H. That area will include various food vendors and corporate sponsor tents. Hyundai, Carl's Jr. and the UCLA Store will have a presence in the Fan Zone for all seven UCLA home games, while other vendors will rotate in the area throughout the year. In addition, the UCLA Health System Kids Zone will feature inflatables, a football toss, other activities and an opportunity for young fans to meet members of the Sprit Squad.
