Sept. 14, 2009

Linebacker Reggie Carter and kicker Kai Forbath of UCLA have been named Pac-10 Conference Players of the Week in football for their roles in the Bruin win over Tennessee.

Carter, a senior captain, has led the Bruins in tackles in both of this year's games and recorded a game-high 14 tackles at Tennessee, including a tackle for loss. He posted seven of his tackles in the fourth quarter, with two of the stops coming on third and fourth downs of a successful goal line stand with 1:59 to play and the Bruins up 19-13. Tennessee held possession of the ball for 12:34 in the fourth quarter and came away with only three offensive points. The UCLA defense limited the Vols to 208 yards of total offense (115 rushing, 93 passing) in the game, forced four turnovers, including three interceptions, and totaled three quarterback sacks.

Forbath accounted for 13 of UCLA's 19 points as he was successful on four-of-five field goal attempts, connecting from 26, 39, 31 and 47 yards, with his only miss coming on a 51-yard attempt. The four field goals in a single game were a personal-best total for Forbath who ranks fifth on the all-time school list with 50 career field goals. He has converted 19 of his last 20 field goal attempts over the last two seasons. Forbath also moved up to 12th on the all-time school list with 205 career points.

UCLA will host Kansas State this Saturday at 7:15 p.m. in the Rose Bowl.
